I have a relative who loves this game to death, and I only joined because they enjoy it so much. Since they kind of walked me through the basics, and since I bothered to read the rules and watch the wiki-videos, I was familiar with the gameplay even as a new player, and I thought I knew the rules/what was expected of me.
The other day, when I decided to wander around Puppet Guardian for a little (instead of Magical Rooms, where I spend most of my Mirror Realms time), I was accused by another player of being a 'mule', simply because I kind of knew how the game worked.
What.
I've never joined this site before. The knowledge I have I got because I bothered to look it up. Because I wasn't ignorant, and because I didn't spam people in order to learn, I was accused of being a secondary account. That's not what made me mad, though. What made me mad was that there is evidently a rule against mules. Knowledgable newbies make people suspicious. If I'd known that I was expected to be an idiot, I would have acted like one.
If you have a rule, put it where people can see it. Do not make someone scroll through threads about events and apologies and whatever else. Do not make them finally reach the rule in a thread about reporting people, instead of one about, say, rules.
I have no idea how many other rules, regulations, or social taboos there are for Mirror Realms, because they are not listed clearly and succinctly, and because I have neither the time nor motivation to scroll through thread upon thread for what might not even exist. Rules that are known only to mods and admin do not count as rules. If a mod asks you to do something, you should do it, but you should not live in fear because you have no idea what you're expected to do. There's enough persecution in the real world; please don't encourage it on the internet.
I already love this game, and I'd like to continue playing without worrying about the expectations.
Thank you.
