Hi all,
So I had some questions about magic, because I haven't really been able to find clear explanations so far. I haven't gotten any gems yet, but am curious about how it might work.
1. How often are magic points added? Do magic points from one item accumulate (i.e. I wait a long time, will the wand alone ever give me more than one or is it capped at one?)
2. I heard that books are eventually "used up"- does this mean it is actually destroyed? How many uses are there?
Edit: I have another question not related to magic...I could have sworn I saw a player with two butterfly pets. I thought only one pet could be out at a time? :?
Thanks!

Hi sequel,
Hope you're enjoying the game so far! In regards to your questions, here are some answers:
1. Yes, magic can be acquired by items made from gems, for example, if I find a Tourmaline in Stage 5, I will have one Tourmaline Magic point. The gems can then be made into wands or books that can cast magic. Since I only have 1 Tourmaline, if I use it to make a Thunder Wand, I will only be able to use it once until my magic regenerates. Magic regenerates in 4 hours time, but you must be offline of Puppet Guardian the entire four hours.
2. Books are never "used up", unlike scrolls they have unlimited usage. They're just like wands or staffs in that they can be cast infinitely until you run out of magic points for that specific gem.
Your edit question: In the Season 2 area (past the hole in the tree), there are quests. One quest NPC, Varvara, rewards you with the item "Mark of Beast Lord" when completing quests number 17 and 19. When you have this item in your inventory or rusksack, you are able to carry 2 pets (and more depending on how many Mark of the Beast Lord you have on your character).
I hope I answered your questions; if you have any follow up questions feel free to post them here. ^^;

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your quick response. So in response to question 1, that means that they do not accumulate? I remember seeing a point about how it's capped at...some very high number. Anyway, thanks again!

You can have as many gems as you'd like, theres no cap, haha. But if you only have one gem or gem item in your possession, you will only have one gem point--meaning you can only use a magic item of that genre one time (until regeneration, or if you find more gems).

If you want to cast some magics but don't have the magical gems to do so, you could invest your time in magic spells. I'm sure you would have noticed the "magic" button when playing PG. You can learn spells through quests obtainable from Morias. These spells are cast by sacrificing items known as xaps. Learn more about magic from our wonderful PG wiki ;D mirrorrealmsgames.wikia.com/wiki/Magic_Spells

Following up with Void's information, I'd recommend starting the quests from Morias. The secret magic spells come in handy. However, the spells only work in Season 2 so just keep that in mind.

Thanks for the helpful info, all! I just saw a video showing what it looked like so that was helpful. I'm wanting to buy some items from people now but have no idea about costs- especially since the in game marketplace is so limited. Especially zoisite and diamond. What are the prices we're looking at for the gems? Maybe I'll make a post in the marketplace instead.

There are also the elemental attributes that reside in your attacks when an imbued weapon is used or when you have gauntlets equipped.
They do a good deal replacing the gems with elemental damage you can use indefinitely no matter how many gems you have, and are my way of doing things.
I invested a lot of interest in them, so I know how most accessories work in detail, if you want to know the math and such, you can just send a PM to me, because the wiki does not have very detailed information about this.
Then also, there are a few things about magic and their effects that became quite unbalanced due to many attempts of the development team to attempt balance when many changes happened, look out.

Actually, I wondered about that- so for something like...the High Frost Halberd, light attributes 50%, means a partial- not full- conversion from physical to magical?

It's flexible. The most important and first value in any damage calculation is Offensive Ability. High Halberd has 4 Offense, High Frost Halberd has 4 Offense. For the attributes in weapons, for each percent of every attribute, the physical decreases by the amount of all attributes together. High Halberd- Offense: 4
- No attributes, 100% Physical
High Frost Halberd- Offense: 4
- 50% Light
- 50% Physical (... 100% - 50%)
High Frost Halberd with Green-eyed Gauntlet[/color] The gauntlet adds 40% Nature attribute when equipped in a magic slot, the effects stack. - Offense: 4
- 50% Light
- 40% Nature
- 10% Physical (...100% - 50% - 40%)
High Frost Halberd with Green-eyed Gauntlet and Red-eyed GauntletThe gauntlets add 40% Nature and 40% Fire attributes when both equipped in two magic slots, the effects stack. - Offense: 4
- 50% Light
- 40% Nature
- 40% Fire
- -30% Physical (100% - 50% - 40% - 40%)
- -1.2 Physical (-30% of 4)
As you can see, as attribute percents are added, physical damage goes down, so the elemental attributes replace chunks of the damage, not add it.When Physical goes down below 0%, it's not calculated versus the foe's physical resistance, but it's used to finalize the damage value in the end of the calculation. So if you used the last example against a completely normal enemy, like Kobold for example, it would go like this: ( This color means foe's resistance modifier) ( 2 Light X 1 + 1.6 Nature X 1 + 1.6 Fire X 1) - 1.2 = 4Now the White Dragon, the Stage 8 boss: 1. ( 2 Light X 0 + 1.6 Nature X 1 + 1.6 Fire X 1.5) 2. ( 0 (Light result) + 1.6 (Nature result) + 2.4 (Fire result)) 3. ( 4) - 1.2 (end of calculation) = 2.8 (higher than or equal to .5 rounds up, so 3) Some foes reduce physical damage. If you use some element you can cleverly reduce or even remove your physical damage to hurt the foe better, this makes some people think some foes can be weak against some element just because they used a gauntlet and it did more damage, but that's wrong. The damage increase is caused by the replacement of the physical that was reduced by the enemy, with an element that is neutral (x 1) to the foe. Example is Abominable Snowman, when you do reduced damage with a purely physical weapon you can use Water, Nature, Lightning or Darkness to replace a portion of it for neutral damage (x 1), Fire for increased (x 1.5). Light damage is reduced against Abominable Snowman(x 0.5). Another examples of foes resistant/immune to physical damage are Wraith(x 0), Roper(x 0.25), Troll (x 0.9) ... There are more things than just this, but this is all you need to know if you're interested in knowing about elemental attributes and how they work. Also, a note for Magical Rooms, elemental attributes do not affect Attack Points. Regards, Lilli.
